ClearCorrect Acquired by Straumann Group
ClearCorrect, a manufacturer of clear aligners, recently announced its acquisition by the Straumann Group, provider of tooth replacement solutions, for approximately $150 million.

For more than 10 years, ClearCorrect (a privately held company) has established itself in clear aligner manufacturing, servicing doctors in North America, Europe, Israel, Australia and New Zealand. This investment will help ClearCorrect improve its products and expand to offer its Flex and Unlimited treatment options to more providers around the world.

Straumann’s acquisition comes as part of a new initiative by the company to enter the orthodontic market and leverage the power of digital technology to deliver total orthodontic solutions.

ClearCorrect will continue to design and manufacture clear aligners in Round Rock, Texas, under the ClearCorrect brand name. The company anticipates no disruptions to its products or service during the transition.

Technology Company Partners with Smiles Change Lives
Software company Review Wave recently partnered with the national nonprofit Smiles Change Lives (SCL) to help children in need get braces.

Review Wave software helps businesses manage online reviews. SCL helps children receive orthodontic treatment when their families can’t afford the full cost. SCL and its network of about 800 volunteer orthodontists have helped more than 10,000 children get braces.

Principals of each organization met at the American Association of Orthodontics Annual Session in April. SCL was searching for someone who could help with a technology issue that was slowing down the processing of online applications; the company was looking for someone who could write an interface connecting information coming from its online applications with its practice management software.

SCL’s online applications now will automatically be entered into practice management software where program specialists can easily communicate with families. Previously, staff spent hours manually reviewing and entering information, and they now have been freed up to focus on recruiting and placing more children into the program.

Health Care Investment Firm Acquires G&H Orthodontics
Altaris Capital Partners, a health care-dedicated investment firm based in New York, has acquired G&H Orthodontics from the Riverside Co.

In business for more than 40 years, G&H offers a full line of American-made brackets, bands, tubes, wires, springs, elastomerics and other orthodontic supplies to customers in more than 90 countries.

After investing in G&H in 2010, Riverside helped it become a provider of a wide array of orthodontic components. Key to this effort were two add-on acquisitions that added new product lines and distribution channels while delivering new customers and cross-selling opportunities.

Brandon Bernacchi, vice president of operations at G&H Orthodontics, says the new partnership will strengthen the focus G&H has as an orthodontic specialist and manufacturer. Bernacchi also says it signals the start of the company’s next chapter as it continues to expand its products and services.
