According to Parkell, most LED curing lights are limited in total power output, and therefore restrict the operator to a relatively small curing spot. The Parkell Aurora curing light features more than twice the output of traditional LED lights, and provides even illumination across a huge 11mm curing spot.
The Aurora is reportedly excellent for curing large surface areas such as posterior restorations, occlusal sealants, and laminates.
The cordless light fully charges in 4-5 hours. (The charger is included.) A single charge provides sixty 40-second curing cycles – or 40 minutes of continuous operation. If someone forgets to plug in the recharging cable before going home in the evening, the Aurora will function as a corded device simply by leaving it plugged into the charging cable during use.
One-button operation gives the dentist a 5-second signal for tacking laminates plus automatic 20-second or 40-second curing cycles. Pressing the button any time during operation turns the Aurora off.
Designed by Parkell engineers, the Aurora curing light is manufactured at Parkell’s headquarters in Edgewood, NY and costs $399. It comes complete with two curing lenses, a built-in lithium-ion battery, a recharger, and 2-year warranty on both parts and labor.
