Is Invisalign Always Better Than Braces?

Invisalign is known as the preferred way to straighten teeth and resolve overbites, underbites, and other common issues. Its aligners are clear, comfortable, and can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. Patients from all walks of life appreciate Invisalign for its ability to improve their smiles in a discreet and comfortable way.

While Invisalign is often the ideal option for many patients, it is not for everyone. Believe it or not, some patients are actually better off wearing traditional metal braces. Invisalign only works if patient make it a priority to wear their aligners sets for at least 22 hours a day. This can be an issue for some patients, especially younger ones, as it’s tempting to take out the aligners and go about your day without them in.

Patients who don’t believe they are able to commit to wearing Invisalign aligners for at least 22 hours a day may enjoy greater success with traditional metal braces. Metal braces are permanently attached to the teeth and cannot be removed. In addition, metal braces allow for patients to choose colorful rubber bands. This may be appealing to anyone who would like to make a fashion statement and does not mind showing off their metal.

In additional, metal braces often work faster than Invisalign to straighten teeth and resolve. They may be a better option to correcting crooked teeth or overcrowding. If you are wondering whether Invisalign or traditional metal braces make the most sense for you, contact an orthodontist today.
