The 2012 Forestadent USA Scholarship Program came to a close on October 15, 2012, with the announcement of the 2012 scholarship winners. We were amazed at the number of great applicants again this year. “It is very refreshing to see the amount of talent that is headed into orthodontics,” said Paul Humphrey, President, Forestadent USA.
The winners of this year’s program are: Dr. Ryan McComb - UCLA, Dr. Christopher Teeters – University of Minnesota, and Dr. Robert Trujillo – University of Oklahoma. Our panel of judges, comprised of professionals from various aspects of the industry, found these three applicants to excel in everything they were looking for in a winner: excellent academic achievement, a commitment to community, demonstrated leadership, dedication to the field, vision of excellence, and a genuine compassion for their patients. All three recipients received a check in the amount of $5,000 to help with their education expenses.
This program was developed in 2010, with the rising costs of education in mind. To date, Forestadent USA has invested $45,000 in scholarship funds to hard working residents to help offset the cost of their orthodontic education. “We are excited, as this has been a very successful program” said Humphrey, “and we are thankful for the overwhelming support from the universities, faculties, and residents,” Humphrey added.
The company is already looking forward to the 2013 program. Eligibility and application requirements are always available on the company website; applications for the 2013-2014 school year will be available for download or online submission in Spring 2013.
