McLaughlin, Bennett Release New Orthodontic Treatment Textbook

Posted: April 30, 2014
Drs. Richard P. McLaughlin and John C. Bennett announce the release of “Fundamentals of Orthodontic Treatment Mechanics,” the third installment in their trilogy of textbooks defining the McLaughlin Bennett System 4.0. The two previous volumes were published in 1997 and 2003.

“Fundamentals of Orthodontic Treatment Mechanics” includes 300 pages containing over 900 color illustrations and line drawings, supported by a series of stage-by-stage treated cases. As well as more clearly defining the McLaughlin Bennett System 4.0 philosophy, the text also includes the most recent developments in the system as well as topics not broadly covered in the previous volumes, such as case settling and post treatment management.

Based on years of experience in orthodontics and seemingly endless trial and error, Drs. McLaughlin and Bennett developed the McLaughlin Bennett System 4.0 as a means to introduce necessary basic guidelines for those new to the specialty. The series of three books may be read as ground rules for high-quality care in orthodontics, offering a pathway for doing it right. As the preface to the new volume states, “If you want to rise above the level of mediocrity in orthodontics, these three books are for you, young colleagues.”

Drs. McLaughlin and Bennett are professional advisors and consultants to Opal Orthodontics. Dr. McLaughlin played an instrumental role in the development of many of Opal’s leading products, including the Avex brackets.
