Synopsis:

Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is more prevalent in children than autism, and as common as ADHD. Understanding SPD will help you make adjustments in your practice to increase positive outcomes. This course’s practical overview will equip you to facilitate a more positive dental experience for your patients that struggle with SPD.This valuable course includes the following:

Overview of Sensory Processing - What is SPD and why a dental office is such a challenging environment for children with SPD
Eight Specific Areas of Sensory Processing Disorder - Including how to support weaknesses in each area during a dental visit
Additional Considerations for the Dental Professional - Including info on waiting room, social stories, intake information, dental fear and being proactive
Description of Speaker:
Lea is a pediatric occupational therapist with 24 years of clinical experience. She works with children that have a variety of delays and disorders but is especially passionate about supporting children with “unseen disabilities”. She founded SIPP to educate other professionals about SPD and to increase positive community experiences for children with SPD. Lea is an engaging and effective communicator and shares practical information through her webinars.
