Synopsis:
In recent years a great deal of misinformation has been presented in the name of continuing education in orthodontics. Mis-representation of credentials, as well as empirical or anecdotal support for clinical procedures, without any biological basis, have been used to promote orthodontic procedures to the general or pediatric dentist incorporating orthodontics into their practices.
It is time to hear the facts! If you are presently practicing orthodontics or intend to incorporate orthodontics into your practice, you owe it to yourself and your patients to find out the truth and separate "fact from fiction". This course does just that in the controversial topic of whether we should extract premolars to make space in Orthodontics.
Description of Speaker:
Dr. Richard A. Litt received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Detroit in 1965 and his Masters degree and certificate in Orthodontics from Northwestern University in 1969. Dr. Litt was Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Detroit from 1969 - 1980, and Clinical Professor and Director of Postdoctoral Orthodontics at the University of California, San Francisco, from 1980 to 1986.
Dr. Litt is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, as well as various other groups. He has published numerous articles and lectured extensively throughout the world on orthodontics. He was a member of the European Orthodontic Society, the Societe D’Orthopedie Dentofaciale in France and the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists. He has been the orthodontic consultant to the Cleft Palate Center at Children's Hospital of Michigan and the Director of Orthodontics in the Pediatric Dental Residency Program, also at Children's Hospital. Along with his extensive lecturing and teaching activities, Dr. Litt presently maintains a "fee for service" orthodontic practice in Livonia, Michigan.
Dr. Litt has been in orthodontic practice for 40 years and has treated thousands of orthodontic patients. His clinical excellence and the clinical aspect of his F.O.R.C.E. programs reflect that experience. In 1987 he founded the Faculté for Orthodontic Research and Continuing Education with the objective of providing the first and only continuing education in orthodontics patterned after a graduate orthodontic education.
He remains the Director and President of F.O.R.C.E., International, which remains an organization dedicated to teaching general and pediatric dentists to practice orthodontics to the standard of care established by the orthodontic specialty and orthodontic Graduate programs throughout the world.
