Ortho2 Becomes Phase 1 Equity’s Exclusive PMS Provider
Ortho2 has entered into an agreement with Phase 1 Equity to become the organization’s exclusive practice management software provider. Through the partnership, Phase 1 Equity practices will utilize Ortho2’s Edge Cloud platform, which combines practice management, imaging, and communication tools in a cloud-based system. According to Ortho2, the agreement reflects its continued investment in enterprise-level technology to support the growing orthodontic service organization (OSO) market. Phase 1 Equity said the partnership provides a scalable platform designed to support practice growth, clinical efficiency, and patient experience.

AAO Publishes Position Paper on Clinical Use of AI
The American Association of Orthodontists has published a position paper, “Responsible Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Orthodontic Clinical Practice,” to help guide the ethical and safe adoption of AI technologies in orthodontics. Developed by the AAO Task Force on Artificial Intelligence, the paper emphasizes preserving the orthodontist’s role as the final decision-maker in patient care, promoting transparency in AI development, protecting patient safety, and establishing a principles-based governance framework. The document outlines six core principles for integrating AI into clinical orthodontic practice and will support future AAO advocacy and member resources.

Dr. P. Emile Rossouw Named ABO President for 2026-27
The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) has appointed Dr. P. Emile Rossouw as its president for the 2026-27 term. A board-certified orthodontist and chair of the Division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, Rossouw brings more than four decades of experience in orthodontic education, research, and clinical care. As ABO president, he will chair the Executive Committee and serve as liaison to several professional organizations. Rossouw has authored more than 200 publications and has held leadership positions at multiple academic institutions in North America and South Africa.

Align Technology Awards $300,000 in Global Dental Research Grants
Align Technology has awarded $300,000 in research funding to 12 universities through its 15th Annual Research Award Program, supporting studies aimed at advancing orthodontic and dental care. Recipients span the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions, with funded projects examining topics such as root resorption during tooth movement, aligner treatment outcomes, expansion therapies, white spot lesions, retention protocols, and enamel characteristics. According to Align, applications underwent a blinded review by an independent academic committee before final selections were made. The company said the program reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting scientific research and evidence-based innovation in dentistry and orthodontics.
