The Benefits & Liabilities of CBCT Benjamin Lund, Editor, Orthotown Magazine

CBCT & Standard of Care
Isn't it amazing how much a certain technology can
progress in a single year? In September 2009,
Orthotown Magazine showcased cone beam computed
tomography (CBCT) technology and its clinical promise.
Granted, CBCT isn't "new" to orthodontics by any means,
but as the technology has evolved it has become more
common for orthodontists to include 3D images into their
treatment plans. Now, more aware of the myriad of CBCT's
possibilities, we're becoming equally concerned of its
potential pitfalls – more specifically how it applies to the
overall standard of care for orthodontics. There are still
many questions about using 3D images in your practice,
and as they arise, you can be sure Orthotown Magazine will
help you find the answer!
