3-Dimensional Intelligent Bonding
Specialty Appliances has announced an agreement with Arcad Digital Solutions, the developer of an orthodontic computer-aided treatment software designed specifically for precision straight-wire bracket placement. Arcad's user-friendly interface allows orthodontists to quickly approve or modify a digitally proposed end-of-treatment result. This new form of indirect bonding is called 3DiB (3-Dimensional Intelligent Bonding), exclusively from Specialty Appliances.

The goal of 3DiB is to optimize straight-wire appliances with perfect bracket placement. Intelligent bonding technology delivers faster treatment while reducing inefficient wire bends and bracket repositioning. First, Specialty uses the software to segment each tooth and carefully identify the long axis, key anatomical landmarks and the doctor's prescribed bracket heights. Next, the prescribed treatment plan is used to guide the virtual ideal post-treatment finish.

With 3DiB, orthodontists can maintain their desired level of control through Web-based approver software. Doctors can fine-tune teeth and/or the bracket positions while visualizing the real-time counter effects on both pre- and post-treatment models. PowerScope 2
American Orthodontics has announced several improvements to its PowerScope Class II Corrector. The appliance will now be known as PowerScope 2, and improvements to the device include the following: a thicker, more robust attachment nut for increased strength and durability, wider slot tolerance with mesial-distal chamfer for easier wire insertion and enhanced activation indicators for quick reference during the activation process.
