Pearl Becomes First Dental AI Company FDA-Cleared for 2D and 3D Imaging

Pearl has received FDA 510(k) clearance for Second Opinion 3D, becoming the first dental AI company with FDA-cleared solutions for both 2D and 3D dental radiologic image analysis. The clearance expands the platform’s capabilities to cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging, allowing automated identification of key anatomical structures in 3D scans, including dentition, maxilla, mandible, inferior alveolar canal, mental foramen, maxillary sinus, nasal space and airway. The software is designed to help dental professionals review CBCT images more efficiently and support diagnostics and treatment planning across specialties such as orthodontics.
