Ormco Appoints Matt Turner as Company President
Ormco, provider of orthodontic technology and services, has appointed Matt Turner as the company’s new president. Turner most recently served as the vice president, sales and commercial, for General Electric’s oil and gas surface division after spending nearly 10 years in its power and water division.

Before GE, Turner consulted with McKinsey & Co., and attained the rank of captain in the U.S. Air Force. He holds mechanical engineering and political science degrees from MIT and earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School. Throughout his 20 years of professional experience, Ormco says, Turner has demonstrated an aptitude for driving organic business growth through execution rigor, increasing profitability as an operational profit-and-loss leader, developing go-to-market strategies and building high-performing, customer-focused global teams.

Ormco’s outgoing president, Patrik Eriksson, has been instrumental in overseeing Turner’s transition. Under Eriksson’s leadership and four-year tenure as president, he has created sustainable business growth for the company.

3M and 3Shape Partner to Advance Digital Workflows for Orthodontics
3M and 3Shape are working together to advance the field of orthodontics through digital workflows supporting indirect bonding, clear aligners and other emerging technologies.

Jim Ingebrand, president and general manager of 3M’s oral care division, says the companies want to make it easier for orthodontists to engage patients, provide effective treatments and run profitable practices. Dr. Richard McLaughlin Updates Two-Year Program
Dr. Richard McLaughlin, the founder of the Two-Year McLaughlin Program, recently announced that he will offer attendees the option to take each of the six courses individually or consecutively. The courses are all held at McLaughlin’s office and training facility in San Diego.

McLaughlin spent years collecting material and presenting seven major two- or three-day courses. The Two-Year Program debuted in 2006, when McLaughlin decided to combine the courses into one comprehensive course. More than 200 orthodontists have graduated from the two-year program since its inception.

The postgraduate orthodontic program will still be offered as a full two-year program; however, attendees will now have the option to take individual modules. Some benefits of taking the full curriculum as a complete program include the study club camaraderie among classmates and the opportunity to fully immerse in the philosophy under McLaughlin’s mentorship. This new option allows doctors to take refresher courses on specific topics they are interested in without having to commit to the full two-year program. Additionally, it allows flexibility for doctors to take the courses at their own pace if needed for busy schedules.
