Jim David “I love working with people and making a connection to tell a story,” says Arizona-based photographer Jim David, who photographed Dr. Chris Teeters for this month’s Office Visit profile. “For example, to help a subject relax, it helps to ask them about themselves or maybe something they like about their job. It was a treat to learn about Dr. Teeters’ band, Relapse, and to incorporate that aspect of his life into the shoot.”

David’s clients have included Men’s Health and Phoenix magazines, the U.S. Army, and the tourism departments for the states of Arizona and Colorado. “One of my most memorable assignments was when I photographed Aravaipa Canyon in Arizona on a two-day backpacking trip with 50 pounds of equipment,” he says. “It was a hard shoot but a great adventure and learning experience.”

Diana Weaver In her article about how orthodontists can optimize their hiring and onboarding process to attract and hold onto top talent (“Put Them on the Right Path”), practice management consultant Diana Weaver explains how job candidates today are looking for a strong work-life balance, so it’s important to understand whether their definition aligns with your practice and the position you’re hiring for.

“If an exceptional candidate wants to drop off their kids at school in the morning but the practice opens at 7:30 a.m., for example, consider whether it could be an option for that employee to come in a little later and then stay a little later,” says Weaver, who is a trainer and business analyst for Shimmin Consulting as well as the company’s chief operating officer. “Before deciding upon this course of action, however, it’s important to take into consideration that current team members might request a similar accommodation in the future, too.”
