ST. LOUIS, Mo.— In partnership with Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) announced the launch of "Mastering the Business of Orthodontics (MBO)," a member-exclusive online learning program designed to help orthodontists build their business and leadership skills.

"AAO is thrilled to have members learn from Wharton's world-class faculty as well as experts in the orthodontic industry. This partnership exemplifies that the AAO is the authority for orthodontists and the exclusive benefits we continue to deliver to our members," said Dr. Ken Dillehay, DDS, MS, president of the AAO.

The program covers eight essential and up-to-date topic areas taught by Wharton professors and AAO instructors. Included in the course will also be a series of guest speakers who are orthodontic industry experts. Throughout the course, AAO members will learn how to incorporate business concepts into their practice.

"This exclusive program is an initiative of the AAO Innovation and Transformation Fund whose purpose is to revitalize the AAO member benefits program. Once completed, our members will gain an additional skillset to help take their practice and leadership skills to the next level," said Lynn Thomas Gordon, CEO of the AAO.

"Through the Wharton-AAO MBO Program, AAO members will obtain formal business training to help them succeed as an entrepreneur and small business owner," said Don Huesman, managing director of Wharton Online. “We are proud to provide the education that will advance AAO’s participating members’ business acumen.

Through the collaboration with Wharton and the AAO, members will build their knowledge in improving productivity, patient-centered marketing, financial acumen, people management and leadership practices. Registration is now open for the eight-week winter and spring programs.
