SHEYBOYGAN, Wis.—American Orthodontics announces the latest product in its suite of Class II correction appliances, the universal PowerBar.

PowerBar is a fixed functional, direct bond orthodontic appliance for correction of Class II cases into Class I through efficient segmental tooth movement. The universal design of PowerBar allows use on left or right sides of the maxillary arch. Initial application of PowerBar can reduce total treatment time and provides easier segmental correction.

PowerBar is designed, engineered, and manufactured in American Orthodontics state-of-the-art facility. The UDI compliant PowerBar is metal injection molded to exacting standards for consistent results.

With a consistent elastic regimen, the PowerBar is an early and efficient way to correct Class II and reduce treatment time. The free-moving bar and socket provides rotational control of molars during treatment as well as opening space between laterals and cuspids, or cuspids and premolars. PowerBar features a patent pending pad base for optimal bonding strength and the smooth and rounded mesial hook is engineered for simple attachment of elastics. The facial line on the socket provides easy buccal groove placement.

PowerBar permits the use of almost all complementary appliances but combined with buccal tubes, buttons or UT hooks, thermoforming plastic, and elastics from American Orthodontics provides a coordinated and effective treatment. After bonding attachments to the lower arch first or second molars, the correct size universal PowerBar is placed in the upper arch. Once Class II is corrected, the PowerBar can be removed, and space closed with traditional braces.

PowerBar offers as many as 23 sizes with each identified by color for better visual inventory control. This wide array provides the flexibility of spanning PowerBar from cuspid to molar, or pre-molar to molar in patients of all ages and growth levels. Incorporating different sizes of PowerBar between left and right is convenient since the remaining devices can easily be used in future cases.
