Freedom-Lock™ Appliance System from Accutech
Snap-tight and Easy Release Design

Chesapeake, VA – April 8, 2008 – Accutech Orthodontic Lab’s Freedom-Lock™ rapid palatal expander (RPE) is revolutionizing orthodontic treatment because it can be integrated into multiple types of appliances.

About Freedom-Lock™ Appliance System
Its design delivers a rigid and secure appliance for the patient, but provides the clinical advantage of a quick and easy removal or reinsertion at any time during treatment.  Any type of screw that would be used for a fixed RPE can be used with the Freedom-Lock™ system.  Its hinged mechanism fills the buccal tube with a snug fit but easily slides in and out, and it has a gentle curve that crosses the occlusal surface.  The hinge mechanism locks in by design. The custom designed “flat” locking clasp is paramount to the retention of this appliance system.  Its design delivers a snap-tight lock for insertion and easy release flexibility for quick removal.

Quick and Easy Insertion
Freedom-Lock™ delivers superior expansion – it pushes from the lingual and pulls from the buccal simultaneously; and delivery is simple.  After the bands are cemented, the RPE snaps right in.  It appears to be a traditional RPE, but it’s not soldered to the bands at all.

Removal and Re-insertion Advantages
The Freedom-Lock™ comes out, and the bands stay on the teeth therefore adjustments can be easily made outside the mouth.  Springs and clasps can be added as needed, and larger screws can be inserted with no relapse or new bands.

Hygiene and Cost Savings
A patient’s oral hygiene is greatly improved because the Freedom-Lock™ can be completely removed at each appointment for a thorough cleaning.  When the expansion is complete, the appliance reduces chair time and band usage.  The appliance is removed and the bands can remain for continued treatment.
