ORANGE, Calif. (Dec. 19, 2013)—Ormco Corporation, a leading manufacturer and provider of advanced orthodontic technology and services, today announced that it has filed an appeal to the Federal Court against Ortho Classic related to patent infringement.
As previously announced, Ormco filed a motion with the Oregon District Court requesting the District Court to enjoin sales of the H4 Bracket produced by Ortho Classic, part of World Class Technology Corp. The District Court denied Ormco’s motion. Ormco respectfully disagrees with the District Court’s position and has appealed the District Court’s decision to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Ormco is confident that its position will be vindicated by the Appeals Court. Over the past decade Ormco has been a leader in self-ligation, pioneering numerous technical advances. Over the course of this time Ormco developed a robust intellectual property portfolio. Ormco is a market leader in orthodontics and as such will continue to protect its intellectual property rights.
Vicente Reynal, president of Ormco Corporation, commented: “Ormco is at the forefront of innovation with a distinguished product portfolio that continues to help orthodontists achieve their clinical objectives. It remains our highest priority to protect our intellectual property.”
