You Should Know:
Boyd Industries
by Benjamin Lund, Editor,
Orthotown Magazine
Herein, we chat with Adrian E. LaTrace, CEO of Boyd Industries, Inc., to learn what the company is all about.
Tell us about Boyd, and what you provide to
orthodontists.
LaTrace: For more than 50 years, Boyd has been a
thought leader in the design and manufacture of exam
and treatment chairs, delivery systems and custom cabinetry.
Beyond equipment and cabinetry, the company's
knowledgeable sales team can help advise orthodontists
on ways to use our products to create efficient, ergonomic
and aesthetically pleasing offices. These are important
criteria for an orthodontist to consider
in differentiating themselves in a competitive
market. Boyd's manufacturing
team is equipped and staffed to configure
our products to match the doctor's
taste in appearance and technical requirements.
Boyd has enjoyed a track record of success in the orthodontic
field for many decades. We have many doctors whose
families are multi-generation owners of Boyd equipment.
This speaks to the quality and reliability of our products.
You are in an elevator. A man asks what your
company does. You have 15 seconds before the
door opens. What do you say?
LaTrace: Boyd Industries designs and builds the best
orthodontic office equipment in the market!
What is your background in ortho?
LaTrace: Much of my career has been dedicated to the
manufacturing of high reliability equipment and construction
of commercial facilities. I found Boyd to be a
great intersection of these two areas of my expertise where
I can leverage my past experiences to build on Boyd's reputation
for quality.
Since taking the helm at Boyd in December 2012, I
have immersed myself in learning the ways our products
can better serve orthodontists. I have found that our
many customers and experienced sales team members
have been great resources to explain not only how our
products benefit the orthodontists and staffs we serve, but
also what we can do in the future to adapt our chairs, side
units and custom cabinetry to improve the efficiency of
their offices. I look forward to many more decades serving
the orthodontic market!
What is the philosophy at Boyd?
LaTrace: Boyd is a customer-centric company. From
our team on the factory floor to our sales professionals in
the field, we are united in our passion for customer service.
It starts by listening to our customers about ways to continually
improve our products to the consultative doctordirect
sales approach. By keeping the doctor and their staffs
at the forefront of our actions, we keep the entire Boyd
team working in unison to meet their expectations.
What would you consider to be the “best kept
secret” about Boyd?
LaTrace: Affordability. It's a natural reaction to associate
high quality with higher prices. This doesn't always
apply though. At Boyd, we continually look for ways to
provide the best value for our customers. Current and
new customers are often surprised by the affordability of
our chairs, side units and cabinetry. By investing in a
quality product like Boyd, they will benefit from many
years of use.
What kind of service can orthos expect when
they pick up the phone and call you?
LaTrace: Orthodontists and their staffs can expect to
have their inquiry handled in a professional and timely
manner. Our highly experienced staff will respond
promptly to questions and needs. This is a characteristic
of our customer-focused approach.
How can an ortho practice begin working with you?
LaTrace: We have a network of sales representatives
around the U.S. who work directly with our customers. In
addition, our Clearwater, Florida-based account management
team supports practices outside our sales representatives'
territories and handles all sales to international
customers, universities and government agencies. Call our
team at 727-561-9292 or visit www.boydindustries.com for information about our products and to learn more
about your sales professional.
